Our Most Celebrated Idols

Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters

Grohl is a musician at heart and plays drums, and guitar, as well as being a singer. He is also a songwriter, record producer and even a movie director, making him one of a few multi-talented public figures of note today. The band Nirvana was impressed with Grohl’s hard hitting style and thought he would be a perfect addition. Grohl toured with Nirvana several times and appeared on three of their albums. The band enjoyed a successful career until the untimely death of Kurt Cobain in 1994.

Cobain’s death sealed the fate of the band so Dave took all of his experience and knowledge into his own band. That is how Foo Fighters began and Grohl became frontman, initially being the only member of the band, playing most of the instruments and singing on the debut album of the same name in 1995. Grohl is currently married to Jordyn Blum, a successful television producer. Besides his great passion for his music, Grohl spends his time and energy on his wife, and his three children. The couple has been married since 2003.

Keith Moon from The Who

London-born Moon (1946) was the son of working class people, and developed a keen interest in music from an early age. Before joining The Who Moon played in two bands, the first being the Escorts followed by the Beachcombers. Teaming up with Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and John Entwistle, Moon was an integral part of one of the greatest rock bands of all time, The Who. One of the elements of a The Who concert that entertained and delighted their audiences is that wild antics the band members engaged in, often resulting in instruments being destroyed.

Moon was unmarried at the time of his death. His girlfriend at the time was Annette Walter-Lax, whom he lived with. His death at the very young age of 32 (1978) came as a shock to the music world, his loss to both The Who and to the bands fans felt around the world.

Lars Ulrich from Metallica

Born in Denmark in 1963 Ulrich developed a love for drumming from a very early age. At the age of 14 his grandmother gifted him his first drum kit. At the age of 16 Ulrich’s family moved to Los Angeles and it was here that, along with co-founder James Hettfield, Ulrich formed what was to become one of the best bands of all time: Metallica. By 1983 the band already had their first album under their belt and were well on the way to becoming a household name.

Ulrich has been married three times as well as engaging in a long term relationship. From the first 2 marriages he has fathered 3 boys. Ulrich is currently married to Jessica Miller, an American fashion model.

Travis Barker from Blink 182

Born in 1975 in Fontana, California Travis Barker is a man of many talents, with experience both as a musician and a producer. He is best known as the drummer for Blink 182, but has been involved with several bands over the years, and began two of them himself.

Barker’s relationships with women appear to be tumultuous at best. His first marriage was to Melissa Kennedy and lasted only 9 months before Barker decided to file for divorce. Two years later Barker took the leap into his second marriage, wedding actress and former Miss USA titleholder (1995) Shanna Moakler. Moakler was the former girlfriend of championship boxer Oscar De La Hoya and brought the child she had with Oscar into her relationship with Barker. Becoming a step-parent set the course for Barker to then father two children with Moakler. After a lot of speculation, gossip and rumor-spreading about the couple, their divorce took place in 2008.
